RARE, Very Early, Original Antique Tin Candle Mold, 6 Tube Size for 6 Candles, c.1790, Made by Early Tinsmith

DESCRIPTION: Scans show it all.....another nice, very early, c. 1780 - 1790 tin candle mold from my collection. THIS IS AN ORIGINAL COLONIAL ITEM AND NOT A REPRODUCTION AS OFTEN SEEN ON EBAY. Nice size, having 6 "tubes" to make 6 candles at a time. These were quite an improvement and time saver over individually hand-dipping candles on early farms, but were rather expensive in 1700's money and not too common.

It stands 10 1/2" tall x 4 3/4" x 2 3/4" wide. This has a rectangular top, made to hold the tubes in place and facilitate "damming" the wax during pouring. Also provides a dam to hold the wax and keep it from spilling over. At the bottom the tubes are held in place by a similar rectangular bottom. Each tube is about 7/8" diameter. This was made with a handle, which IS STILL PRESENT!!! Quite often they are missing today on many molds.

A VERY TALL, STURDY 6 TUBE MOLD.

It WAS HANDMADE OUT OF HEAVY TIN PLATE MATERIAL BY AN EARLY NEW ENGLAND TINSMITH. Looks very good for its age and is in nice, complete, excellent antique condition overall. Nice aged tin patina.

Nice early item from a fine early Massachusetts estate, from my personal collection. 225+ YEARS OLD!!! Great original colonial decoration item for a mantle/shelf or in a kitchen display.

A NICE COLONIAL PERIOD CANDLE MOLD!!
