Title: The Pageant: A Booklet of Belles-Letteres: Volume One Comprising Numbers from June, 1905 to December, 1905
Publication: Chicago: The Blue Sky Press, 1905
Edition: First Edition

Description: First Edition. Hardcover. 12mo, 203pp. A crisp, clean copy, near fine, in the publisher's beige cloth with light brown spine. Gentle soiling to cloth, else a nice, crisp example, with many unopened pages. Dull ding to the rear fore-edge. A bound volume of the first six issues of this short-lived fine press poetry magazine, which seemed dedicated to a mix of established classics (John Donne, Christina Rosetti) and modern lights (Oscar Wilde, W. S. GilbeVrt). The issues were bound in complete, except for their wrappers. As such, much promotional and advertising material related to the press is included herein (integral to the individual issues). According to Ransom (see p. 219), the press lasted from 1899-1907, and issued 39 volumes, including "The Pageant" (several issues, all listed as the final number 39 in the list of their publications). Scarce in commerce; we found just one auction record in the past century. Near fine.
