A smoothing plane with a coffin shaped body by W Greenslade of Bristol. The makers stamp is clear, along with exhibition medals London, Dublin, Paris & Melbourne. The Paris exhibition was in 1890 Melbourne exhibition was in 1880 so the plane probably dates from the end of the 1800s.
The iron is 2 1/4” wide and made by Marples. It is a heavy parallel iron measuring 1/4” thick and 7” long, with a chipbreaker. The mouth is clean, it has had a fresh piece of wood let into the front. There is a curved steel handle at the back giving a comfortable grip.
