Used: Two flaws. The thing the officer is holding in one hand appears chipped or broken. He may have been holding scissors or a hatchet type tool to cut the opium smokers hair. The other flaw is the opium smokers long braid is broken off. I do not know how long it was originally. The officer is holding the end of the braided hair in one hand.


Marked and numbered on the base. I was unable to verify the exact origin of this piece. It is incised with an X and the numbers

Not sure of the maker but the quality is visible. The detail of the figures is amazing. It has slot of characteristics of Majolica from France. Possibly Sarreguemines . I am not an expert so that is just my opinion from the research I’ve done.
