DESCRIPTION

The first edition of the first published work from popular author of detective novels and occult mysteries, Ernest Bramah. A tongue in cheek account of his time farming in his youth, after leaving school aged sixteen.

Bramah concludes his work "I can once more agree with the man in the train that farming is the most agreeable of all pursuits, to all except the farmer!".

Best known for creating the characters Kai Lung and Max Carrados, George Orwell acknowledged that Bramah's book 'What Might Have Been' influenced 'Nineteen Eighty-Four'.

With sixteen pages of advertisements to the rear.


CONDITION

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Discolouration to back strip, with handling marks to boards. Significant ink stain to rear board. Rubbing to front joint. Hinges starting, with boards holding firm. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages significantly age toned to perimeters due to paper type. The odd spot.
