Unusual Vintage CLIP-ON Round-Lens Eye Glasses, w/Original Case, IDENTIFIED & DATED!!!

DESCRIPTION: Scans show it all.....VERY NICE pair of vintage eye-glasses, w/original case. These are the very desirible round lens style. They are very unusual, however, as they have a flexible bridge and several clips around each side. Gold plated or metal.

Round lens style were very popular during the 1920-30 period. You often see people at the time wearing them, e.g. Joe Kennedy and other national figures and leaders. But these are especially interesting and rare, considering the clip on nature. I could understand if they were "add-on" sun glasses, but not sure the intent. Obviously the desire was to add something different. Reading glasses for closeup situations? Something to change the effect, e.g. a bifocal effect?

These HAVE THE ORIGINAL HARD BROWN CASE for protection, felt lined, which is often missing. WHAT IS BEST IS THAT THE OWNER PRINTED HIS NAME, "WILLIAM W. THOMAS" AND DATE, WHICH APPEARS TO BE 4-10-47". Close to WWII dates, so could have been related. He could have used them during the war, before the name and date were put there. IN ANY EVENT, VERY RARE TO FIND ANY GLASSES WITH OWNER IDENTIFICATION!!!

ANTIQUE AND VINTAGE GLASSES ARE ALWAYS NICE, AND THIS PAIR IS PARTICULARLY UNUSUAL FOR ANY DISPLAY OR COLLECTION. Complete and usable, or a nice item to add to a collection. Also, could be used as  a prop in theatre productions or with Halloween costumes, etc.
