341ST BOMBARDMENT SQUADRON PATCH 3" STICKER - WWII - 97TH BOMBARDMENT GROUP:

This is a 3" vinyl adhesive sticker of the 341st Bombardment Squadron (Heavy) patch, featuring Disney's "Dopey", from Snow White and the Seven Dwarf's, carrying a bomb. The 341st BS was part of the famed 97th Bombardment Group, serving in the 8th, 12th and 15th United States Army Air Forces. The sticker is a picture of a recreated patch and accurately represents what the original patch would have looked like new in 1943.

The original leather patch pictured is not included in this listing and is not for sale.

The patch was re-created from an original WWII-era leather patch owned and worn by Staff Sergeant Joseph R. Myshrall of Millinocket, Maine, who flew out of North Africa in the Mediterranean Theatre of Operations as a tail gunner. He was one of only 26 gunners on bomber to achieve the status of "Ace" in U.S. military history, received the Air Medal with 12 Oak Leaf Clusters (the equivalent of 13 Air Medals), and the Distinguished Flying Cross among other awards.

From January - October 1943, Myshrall completed 30-missions aboard B-17F-1-BO The Flying Patch (serial number 41-24379), 20-missions aboard the most well known bomber of WWII B-17F-5-BO Thunderbird (serial number 41-24437), and filled in as a tail gunner on 1-mission aboard a B-17F for the 414th BS, for a total of 51 high-altitude daylight combat missions.
