It is being said that Portal 3 Kingdom was initially designed to be a test run for a simpler version of Magic the Gathering - which you can see in the Attack/Health Symbols on Portal cards - It was designed for the asian market, with a lot of historical influence in the product. Which led to the naming of the three theme decks - Shu, Wei, Wu - all famous historical Generals
Due to Portal 3 Kingdoms just might being a markt test for Wizard of the Coast, the Printrun was very limited when it released in 1999.
