This is a used Sirchie GoldPanther FAL200 forensic light source. These are usually used by law enforcement for CSI (crime scene investigation) work and other investigations. This unit comes with two filter cartridges that adjust the frequency of the light so that different specimens can be detected. Specimens include: Hair, Fibers, Blood, etc. Goggles may be needed for certain filters according to the sticker on the unit. Goggles are not included with this listing.
Light is in good condition with scuffs, scratches marks and wear for normal use and storage. The unit is powered by an 14.4v rechargeable battery (3 included). It powers on perfectly and properly emits light out of the front of the unit. It has a built in fan as well that is used to keep the bulb cool. I put the light filters on the front of the unit and it properly adjusted the output frequency of the light as pictured.
I do not have any history on the usage of the bulb, the bulb is a consumable that would eventually need to be replaced due to age/use/etc.
All batteries included are sold as-is. I purchased one of them recently (the one marked Premium Gold). The others are branded "Sirchie" and did not appear to hold a charge well. These batteries are nothing more then re-branded Porter-Cable 14.4v NiCd batteries, so if you need additional batteries you can buy a Porter-Cable 14.4v compatible battery and it will work fine. I included the old batteries in the case that you want to get them rebuilt, there are electronics stores such as BatteriesPlus that can rebuild the battery packs with new battery cells to make them new again.
Everything is stored in a large plastic case with some foam dividers. The foam is in decent shape and still holds up well. There are some extra empty spaces, from what I can see the original kit came with a tripod. No tripod is included with this listing.
