Bell System Western Electric – 320 Type Blast Proof CB Antique Mining Telephone

This blast proof Western Electric 320 Type Telephone set is in very good original condition, with only minor surface wear from use. The case has a Bell System plaque along the bottom, under the ringer vents, indicating its use within the Bell Telephone System. The case is finished in the original industrial black paint. It has only regular wear from its service life, which was likely in a mine or factory where there was a risk of explosion. There is some wearing of the finish on the front fascia at the top of the phone, however it is likely from the environment it was used in, and does not take away from the overall look of the phone. The front of the case also features a plaque that denotes the model info which reads “CAUTION – 320 Type Telephone Set” along with some instructions. The handset is a matching Bell System Western Electric F1 with very little wear from use, and some fading of the Bakelite. The handset cord, which has some sections where the rubber has cracked away, appears to be the original loose coil cord as well. The phone appears to be intact internally, however it should be noted that there is no key for this unit, meaning the lock needs to be unscrewed to access the phones internals. This is an antique item, and has not been refurbished, so some age wear is to be expected.
