PRODUCT DESCRIPTION: This is a low odour, solvent-borne, ready to use wood preservative which is odourless once dry. It actively protects against wood destroying & discolouring fungi and wood boring insects. The high penetrating ability of the product transports the actives into the wood and provides some vapour permeability, whilst coloured versions also contain UV fade resistant pigments, providing some protection from damaging sunlight. As the finish is semi-transparent, the natural texture of the grain is visible and the sheen is matt to satin, depending on wood smoothness and number of coats. READ ALL PRECAUTIONS & THE FULL LABEL BEFORE USE. RANGE OF USE: Outside applications including inner and outer frames of external joinery, doors, windows, facades, carports, shutters, summer houses, gates and balcony railings. Also suitable for wood resting on the ground / hardstanding and not in constant contact with water, such as garden furniture. Not suitable for any in-ground use or where the wood is subjected to continual wetting, e.g. streams or ponds. Further information at www.barrettinePro.co.uk INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE: Colour swatches are an indication only of the product applied to clean, pale timber. The final colour and finish can vary considerably due to the age, type & condition of the area being treated. Wood surfaces must be clean and dry before treating. Always test an inconspicuous area before starting any project to check product suitability, compatibility and final dry colour. If using a stain / wood dye, apply the colourant before the Preserver and test the effect on an off-cut. New wood: If fungal contamination suspected, clean with Knockout Mould & Mildew Cleaner. Tannin-rich woods should be weathered before use. Renovation: All coatings should be completely removed. Pre 1960’s paint may contain lead, take special precautions. If necessary, grey or deteriorated wood should be sanded down to a clean, sound surface or treated with Barrettine Wood Reviver. Remove dust by wiping with Barrettine White Spirit or Methylated Spirits.

Application temperature: Ideally between 10 – 30°C. Wood should be frost-free when treated. Amateur / Professional uses: Protect environment (e.g. Soil, plants, aquatic environment) from splashes. Do not apply in damp conditions or if rain is imminent. Apply thinly and evenly using a synthetic brush designed for solvent-borne products, in the direction of the wood grain. Ensure end grain is thoroughly treated along with cut and drilled areas and reseal container after use. 2 coats minimum are recommended, depending on wood species and surface characteristics. Drying time: 12 h under normal conditions (20°C/65% rel. humidity). Allow 6–12 hours drying time (touch dry) between coats. Low temperatures, increased humidity and composition of some wood types may increase drying time. Multiple applications will provide a darker finish and smoother wood will increase the sheen. Cleaning of tools: Barrettine White Spirit or Brush Cleaner, immediately after use. Maintenance/Compatibility: Maintenance requirements will depend on exposure and weathering. A top coat is not necessary over this product but can be applied after 24 h drying time (normal conditions). Barrettine Decking Oil, Log Cabin Treatment or a varnish/ sealer (solvent or water based) will extend protection. Compatibility and adhesion should be tested in a sample area first.
