Antique French Telephone – Picart-Lebas – Mother-in-Law Candlestick – Paris, France

This antique Picart-Lebas candlestick telephone is in very good original condition, with a nice finish and intact markings throughout. There is some surface wear on the shaft and base of the phone, but it is very light given this telephone’s age. There is some minor denting in the top part of the base, near where the handset rests. The nickel plated components have some light age wear, but still have much of their shine, and could easily be polished to a like-new finish. The base of the phone has two identification plates, the first of which reads “Societé Ame. Des Téléphones – Système PICART-LEBAS – Capital 3 Millions De Francs” along with the address of manufacture, and the second reads “Propriété de L’état”. Both the handset and Mother-In-Law receiver have stampings as well, which read “Association Des Ouvriers en Instruments De Précision”. The handset is also stamped with the units patent dates, and the receiver is stamped “Récepteur 320.2 No. 13700”. Both are in excellent condition with only minor tarnishing of the metal and no damage to the Bakelite parts. The switch hook functions as intended and the phone appears to be intact internally. This is an antique item, and has not been refurbished, so some age wear is to be expected.

This item is untested and is being sold as is.
