DESCRIPTION

In the original French.

A beautifully bound study of the erotic theatre of Paris's Rue de la Sante, in a rich cloth binding with the title 'Les Bijoux Indiscrets' to the front board, and housed in the publisher's original slip case. Number 1228 of 1500 numbered copies.

Based upon a work originally published in 1866, this work contains the text of several short plays performed at the erotic theatre on the Rue de la Sante that existed from 1862 to 1864, a puppet theatre run by a group of young bohemians, authors, publisher's and artists.

Accompanying these ten short plays is a discussion of the history of the theatre.


CONDITION

In the publisher's original cloth binding, with paper covered slip case. Externally, exceptionally lovely. A touch of fading to back strip head and tail. Handling marks to perimeters of slip case boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright.
