DESCRIPTION

A complete three volume set of A History of Europe. 

This fourth impression copy of volume one, Ancient and Mediaeval, has twelve maps and one folding map. This volume deals with Greece and Rome, barbarism and Christianity. 

Volume two, Renaissance, Reformation, Reason has eight maps and is a first edition, first impression copy.  This volume considers the Italian Renaissance and The French Wars of Religion amongst other notable events.

Volume three, The Liberal Experiment, is a first edition, first impression copy and has thirteen maps. The Liberal experiment denotes the system of civil, political and religious freedom that was established in Britain and other dominions from the 1700s onwards. 

Collated, complete.


CONDITION

All are in the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, smart with some marks to the boards and some light bumping to the heads of the spines. A pencil inscription to the front free endpaper of all volumes. A previous owner gift inscription to volume two, dated 1935. Internally, firmly bound with bright and clean pages.
