REZENSION
Die Brit-Pop-Welle spülte manche Band in Blitzgeschwindigkeit hoch. Für Pulp kam der Durchbruch '95 mit "Different Class" nicht aus heiterem Himmel: Schon '83 startete die Band aus Sheffield mit der Mini-LP "It", gefolgt von "Freaks" ('86), "Separations" ('92) und "Masters Of The Universe" ('94; Singles von '85/'86). Aus den vier Platten dokumentiert "Countdown" 20 meist reduziert-melancholische Popsongs mit Folk-Beigaben, geprägt von Jarvis Cockers sonorer Stimme. Seltener: getragenes Uptempo oder sogar Dance-Rhytmik.
