Antique Vintage Ethnic Woven Coil Polychrome Sea Grass Ethnic Basket & Lid

• A lovely example of a vintage and possibly even antique hand coiled basket and lid
• Likely to be woven sea grass coiled into a Alibaba shaped  basket
• The lid fits snuggly with just the right amount of give to make a solid fit
• Measures 22 cms at its widest point and approx 9cms deep 
• The red and black geometric design seems reminiscent of a Native American style  from the South West USA
• In original unrestored condition so shows some slight wear [see the photographs]
• This basket has for many years been used for sewing and knitting items but it seems their original intended purpose was for the collection and storage of food stuffs
• The outside of the basket is a little faded and could do with a gentle clean but the colours inside are still vibrant
• Interest for students of the history of ethnic development
