A sextant

angle between an astronomical object and the horizon for the purposes of
celestial navigation.
The company
was founded in 1902 by Captain Jannssen Cassens in Bremen and expanded to the
production site in Bremerhaven in 1972. C. Plath specializes in nautical
precision instruments, such as magnetic compasses and sextants, all of which
are carefully hand-assembled, adjusted and tested in Germany to this day.
