Have had this in the collection for the past three or four years. Came pretty worn and dirty inside, yet cleaned up well and throws up great, wide views.

Besides the cleaning, I blacked both sides of all four Bk-7 prisms. Disassembled the EPs and also blacked the edges of the doublets therein. Then painted the exterior of the chassis with one coat of bright red oil based enamel. Liked it so much, I forewent the second coat. It looks like Cordoba leather, IMO.

Added a somewhat matching, very stout, red leather belt. And a set of up-cycled ocular lens caps to keep dust off pristine lenses. Rather shallow screw off black plastic eye cups came age welded but are now free. They add little as to blocking side light, but do cover the (unseemly?) seam between the lens cell  and the outer numbered finger grooved cap.

The objectives are similarly in great condition. Lovely deep blue purplish coatings. Again, views are marvelous and so wide. This is the third widest 8x40 to pass through. Pretty rare size, power, and width especially for this brand that has a high reputation for quality and was carried by SEARS. We have nine in the collection all made by OFUNA, JB-63.
