Aviation Cinderella

This is the initial all purpose vignette produced for Qantas flights to Antarctica which incorporated the word AIRMAIL and denomination of 50c. These initial vignettes were printed in blocks of 8 (plus a text only label) in blue and brick red ink on various colored papers and are found both perforated and imperf.
According to Bill Hornadge's Cinderella Stamp Pricelist #4 (1991-92):

In the period 1977 to 1980 Qantas and Air New Zealand made a number of one day tourist flights to Antarctica, some inaugurated by the airlines, others being charter flights to raise funds for various charities. On the majority of these flights, souvenir mails were carried (often autographed by flight crews). For a number of the flights an Adelaide stamp dealer Jack Koch, arranged the flight mails for the charities concerned and issued a number of souvenir "stamps" for attaching to these mails. These items cannot really by classified as "Locals" since they did not prepay mail to any destination, but they are nevertheless very interesting Flight Vignettes. They have always been difficult to procure as they were only printed in small quantities of a few hundred for the specific flights, and the majority were used on the souvenir mails which were purchased on board by passengers. The flights to Antarctica came to an abrupt halt following the crash of the Air New Zealand flight on Mt Erebus with the loss of all lives.
This vignette is described as:
ANF 1. AUSTRALIA. Qantas 50c Airmail Charter Flights to Antarctica labels in complete sheet of 8.
Hornadge listed several varieties, but not this particular color combination.
This is a complete sheet of 8 vignettes plus 1 label, printed in blue and brick red on buff paper, imperforate.

This sheet is F/VF, OG, NH (with minor creasing at the UL corner).

Approximate Sheet Size: 135 x 141 mm. / 5¼ x 5½ in.

After 35+ years I decided to retire from being an active Cinderella Stamp dealer. Most of my working inventory plus backup stock was sold at public auction. However, I have retained some material that I will be offering for sale. In addition, I have some "new" material that was mixed into lots I have bought for my own collections. I will be listing some of the material in my eBay store at fixed prices. I will also be offering some material at auction, either as single items or mixed lots. There will be many bargains available. There will be large and small lots, some containing similar material, some containing a random mixture, and some containing only one or a few items. The condition will be mixed, but none of the lots will be just accumulations of damaged or faulty stamps (unless specifically listed as such).

Items in stockpage or larger lots may be removed and repackaged into glassines to save on shipping costs.

A Note about Poster Stamps and Gum: Because many poster stamp collectors are primarily interested in the image on the stamp, the absence or presence of gum on the back is of little concern. If no mention of gum is made, then there may or may not be gum present. If you are only interested in poster stamps with original gum, please inquire before bidding. Actual condition issues (that are not apparent from the scan) WILL be described.

* A Note about "Stock Images": Occasionally I will have more than one example of an item in inventory. Rather than scan each one individually, I may use the same image for multiple examples of the item. If that is the case, the item supplied will be in substantially the same, or better, condition than the image. Any such items will have the words: "STOCK IMAGE" at the end of the description.
