Commemorate a key moment leading up to the American Revolution with this new 9.5 x 8-inch First Day Cover bearing an affixed sheet of ten Repeal of the Stamp Act, 1766 Forever® stamps cancelled with official First Day of Issue postmarks. Two bull’s-eye postmarks and one black pictorial cancellation are applied to strike all ten stamps.


The stamp depicts a crowd gathered around a “liberty tree” to celebrate the repeal of British legislation calling for a tax on an array of paper materials. Wide opposition to the act served to unite the American colonies and set them on a path toward independence.

The pictorial postmark features the silhouette of a deciduous tree along with the stamp title in type that evokes the era. Also included are the date and location of stamp issuance: May 29, 2016, New York, NY 10199.

It is a pre-order item. I estimate the FDC will be sent out on or after June 12, 2016.
