The 1115th Engineer Combat Group was organized in 1942, with the 82nd Engineer Combat Battalion as its nucleus. Five other units, listed below the title, comprised the group for most of its operations through the European Theater of War.

During the campaign, the 1115th constructed nearly two miles of bridges; each of which is listed individually with its length, date, and constructing units. These ranged in size from a four foot ditch cover to a massive 1000′ floating pontoon bridge. The chart also shows the emblems of “organizations supported by the 1115th Engineer Combat Group,” centered on the XIX Corps.
