Barrel-eyed auger size 1”, length 24" The auger is marked JAMES SWAN CO USA, it is well forged  . It looks very good as if it has not been used much, the spirals are clean and the threads on the points in very good condition.The cutting edges look quite sharp but may need a bit more sharpening  for best performance.

Also called a “ Scotch barrel-eyed auger”, “Settlers Wrench” or “Bushcraft Drill”. They are useful to drill holes where there is no electrical power for an electric drill. Working in the outdoors they are easy to carry and you can just put a piece of wood through the eye to work as a handle.
