A bound collection of 'Punch' magazines from the first six months of 1944, comprising Vol. CCVI (the 206th volume of the popular humorous weekly magazine which was first started in 1841). 'Punch' routinely contained satirical articles, and pictures and sketches by well-known popular illustrators such as 'Fougasse', 'Anton', Rowland Emett, and David Langdon; it was also known for the outstanding quality of its political cartoons, which in this volume are by Bernard Partridge and E H Shepard (who also illustrated the Winnie the Pooh books by A A Milne).

Please note that although this volume appears to be in its original binding, it is incomplete, containing only 17 out of the 26 issues which would have appeared between January and June 1944 (hence the lower offer price). The missing instalments include 1 in Jan, 2 in Feb, 4 in March, 1 in April, and 1 in June (14 June issue). The volume does however contain 3 issues from the momentous month of June, when the D-Day landings by the Allied Forces on the Normandy coast took place and the liberation of France from Nazi rule began.
