The "I can do it" series of textbooks is designed to help students acquire the ability to communicate in Japanese, the ability to communicate about oneself and one's thoughts, and the Japanese language skills to communicate and talk to each other.

What is important in communication is not the language knowledge itself, but what you can do with the language knowledge you have. This series was developed with this concept in mind.

The "Elementary" series includes Lessons 1 through 15. Students learn through situations, circumstances, and topics, with a focus on behavioral objectives. The topics are centered on familiar things that surround you, and the situations are set up to be inevitable from the learner's point of view. As students progress through the "Elementary" and "Intermediate" levels, the topics expand from familiar things to the local community and society in general.

The lessons are designed so that students will be aware of "consideration for others" from the "beginner" level.
