DESCRIPTION

Eight volumes of later editions of the classic children's tales of author and illustrator Beatrix Potter, each richly illustrated in colour throughout.

Beginning in 1901 with the private printing of 'The Tale of Peter Rabbit' following a mischievous and disobedient young Peter Rabbit as he is chased around the garden of Mr McGregor, twenty-three of these charming children's tales were published in total.

Present here are: The 1955 edition of 'The Tale of Ginger and Pickles'; the 1956 edition of 'The Tale of Johnny Town-Mouse'; the 1956 edition of 'The Tales of the Flopsy Bunnies'; the 1957 edition of 'The Tale of Tom Kitten'; the 1958 edition of 'The Tale of Mrs Tiggy-Winkle'; the 1958 edition of 'The Tale of Squirrel Nutkin'; the 1958 edition of 'The Tale of two Bad Mice', and finally the 1965 edition of 'The Tale of Samuel Whiskers', with this final volume in the publishers' original dust wrapper, price clipped.

Potter's status as an icon of twentieth century children's literature endures to this day.
