This is a truly remarkable book highlighting the work of an influential modern artist. It contains more than 70 full-color plates and paste-down lithographs by Morris Louis Bernstein, a.k.a. Morris Louis, an American painter known for Color Field painting and for co-founding an art movement known as the Washington Color School. His work has been exhibited in the most prestigious galleries such as the Guggenheim and has sold at auction for in excess of $1 million. Unfortunately, the artist died in 1962 of lung cancer caused by paint vapors.

All plates are intact and still bright, many covered in a tissue-paper veil. The pages are a bit browned around the edges. The dust cover is worn and stained in places but with only a couple of small tears. The gold cloth cover is faded but otherwise undamaged and the binding is as tight as new. This is a very large art book, approximately 15" x 9" and heavy, at approximately 4 pounds. It is being sold in as-is condition so please examine all photos carefully.

Regarding shipping: I have had an issue in the past where a buyer expected to have his item shipped immediately, even though my stated handling time is 3 days. I am an individual seller, not Amazon. In most cases your item will indeed ship next day or within 2 days but my items are located at two different sites so it could take up to 3 days to process and ship. Please keep that in mind before you make a purchase.
