This book contains legends of the Blackfeet that were recorded by Nancy McLaughlin (1932-1985), who was adopted into the tribe at an early age. Her adopted name is ME SAS’ MAXAKI, which translates to Swan Woman. Her adoptive Indian mother was Cecile Last Star. These legends were written down by the author and artist as they were heard directly from people of the tribe. The legends are illustrated with black and white drawings by the artist.
