A very fine digitally remastered CD. These are famous and intensely musical performances by Szell and this very fine orchestra, who are right inside the music and give much pleasure to the listener. These also grow with repeated listening.

Szell commands (!) superb playing and singing from all involved. His genius here, apart from everything being technically excellent, is the control of texture and rhythm. The final movement, especially, requires a thought-through sense of direction and purpose, and Szell provides that in trumps.

The analogue sound is superb for the date of 1963 and 1968.

The disc, box and booklet are in extremely good used condition. The disc plays faultlessly.
