This is a stunning and unique Japanese red lacquer wooden box with a metal latch and two carved and colored decorative chrysanthemums on either side. The chrysanthemums symbolize royalty, longevity and rejuvenation in the Japanese culture and is a symbol of the royal family. The box is in good condition for its age, however, some of the wood is split (see photos), but this in no way takes away from the beauty or functionality of the box.
