Tips to get the best out of your face paint.

You will need a sponge or sponges for base and brush or brushes depending on how detailed your look will be. Stencils can be a great and easy way to create a speedy design you can also just add in a touch of glitter or shimmer to finish the look.

To create a perfect base, make sure you begin on clean and dry skin. Skip the moisturiser to make sure the face paints don’t slide off the skin. A pro tip is to spray the sponge with water first and rub between your palms to help the paint go on more effectively. Once you’ve got a good amount of paint on your sponge begin to dab the paint across the face. Try not to wipe or press too hard as this will create streaks and excess water. Once you have fully covered the face, you can then gently try to blend any harsh lines with the rounded end of your sponge. When your base has dried, you can begin the rest of the design!

Get comfortable with your brushes by using them on the inside of your arm, testing the thickness and the pressure needed to apply the paint. Our pros swear by loading the brush with paint, rubbing it in until the consistency is creamy. Be careful of adding too much water to the paint as it will run down the brush and the pigment will be diluted.

To get your face paint to last through that festival why not try mixing with WRATH mixing liquid this gives extra durability and makes your designs last longer.

Top of the list for any face painter is keeping kits, brushes and sponges as clean as possible.
