Japy Frères Antique Chiming Mantel Clock, 1870s.

Beautiful antique mantel clock by Japy Frères, retailed by jewellers Collings & Wallis. Dates from the 1870s, made from solid brass with original ormolu gilt finishing, enamel and porcelain details. Included alongside the clock are a rare pair of matching display pieces, similarly finished with gilt over brass and painted enamel inserts which were sold alongside the clock in the Victorian Era. The clock features the Japy Frères 8 day movement, with serial number 14204.

The movement has been serviced, cleaned, and reassembled with high quality clock oil by a professional clockmaker. The clock keeps good time, especially considering it is around 150 years old.

The clock chimes on the hour and half hours, and winding is smooth and consistent.

Winding key included, pendulum unhooked for transportation to preserve the movement.

I have listed this clock with Royal Mail’s special delivery due to its weight and fragility, I would recommend collecting the item in person however.
