Restoring an abandoned railroad to revenue operation is a unique accomplishment, and Guatemala is the place. We trace the story from the days of Fegua through the mid 1990s, to the privatization under Ferrovias Guatemala. Along the way is the 1998 devastation caused by Hurricane Mitch. Today, six-axle MX620s are hauling containers, and an active steam program delights riders on this exceptionally rugged narrow gauge line. Grab a seat in the cab or on the tender as Baldwin 2-8-2s #204 and 205 in tandem do battle with grades up to 3.7% and cross numerous high trestles. There are plenty of shops views, showing foundry operations, and short interviews with key players in this historic turnaround.
Our 77 minutes of Guatemala coverage leads into neighboring El Salvador, where the rails were government owned in 2001. We spend a half hour riding doubleheaded 1925 vintage Baldwin 2-8-0s, a trouble-plagued railbus, and a mixed train. All aboard for a surprising and wonderful Central American holiday!

Train Video Depot began in 2005 and we started with just 20 train related DVDs! Now we stock over 3,500 different titles and have one of the largest selections of train DVDs and Blu-rays on planet earth! The secret of our success is super simple. Ship as fast as possible and provide excellent customer service to our customers. If there are any problems or you have any questions, we'll make sure they're addressed quickly.
IMPORTANT! The best way to order multiple items is to add them to your cart and then check out ONCE. Instead of ordering an item, checking out then ordering again. Multiple orders placed to the same address will ship COMBINED in one shipment.
ALL US orders ship via USPS 1st Class Mail or USPS Priority Mail*. Normally this takes from 1-3 business days. *Ok, there is one item we sell (a book) that ships via Media Mail as it weighs more than the first class maximum.
Orders received before 3PM PST (and often later) will ship out the same day.
International orders ship via USPS First Class Mail. Delivery times are difficult to estimate and are at the mercy of customs in the country being shipped to. We've had pretty good and fast delivery service to most countries.
Please note that international orders are subject to customs taxes in your country. These are the responsibility of the buyer.
Returns are accepted for 14 days. Item must be in sellable condition (no scratches, fingerprints, etc).
If you receive a defect, or the wrong item, or for any other reason, CONTACT US FIRST! We may be able to resolve the issue without your having to return anything.
