VTG CONGRESS POLYNESIAN DRUMMER Hawaiian Polynesian Man Hula Pahu Drum 1950s

PLAYING CARDS 606 CEL-U-TONE C 1660 DECK

Great addition for a Tiki Bar! Congress No. 606 The United States Playing Card Company circa 1950s, gold edges, very good condition, smoke free home, complete deck with Jokers and instruction card. Cards have been opened and lightly used if at all. A red dye error on 4 of Hearts is shown in photos. There is a tear in thin gold foil on back of box but foil is still there if expert collector wishes to repair.

Congress Playing Cards were first produced by the Russell & Morgan Co. in 1881 as the finest and most expensive of their brands. Decks came with lavish backs and gold edges. The principal features, of course, are the artistic back designs, Jokers and decorative Aces of Spades. There were often several versions of each back. The court cards are all standard. From around 1900, back designs were named in small gold letters at the bottom of the card back. In 1927 the wide-sized cards were discontinued and narrower decks were produced for the games of Bridge and Whist which were growing in popularity.
