A needle holder is used to hold the needle while suturing the wound. The needle is held in place by the needle holder and therefore cannot slip. The filigree shape allows the needle to be guided optimally and there is little risk of injury for patient and doctor during the operation. Most needle holders are suitable for precise guidance of surgical needles. Other models are available with or without a lock. The different handle shapes enable different gripping alternatives.
