BUSHNELL/FUJINON 7x,50 Featherlight: Cleaned, Lubed & Enhanced!

Made by Fuji Photo Optical (FPO) for the famous importer, Bushnell, this lightweight beauty, now in excellent vintage condition, hails from 1954! The date of printing of the included original small pamphlet. The original Registration Card says it was purchased at Marshall Fields in Chicago by a Mr. Moses (women didn't buy optics back then).

It was cleaned internally of the usual haze causing film on large, hand finished BK-7 prisms. Their frosted sides were blackened so as to slightly increase brightness and contrast. Views are stunning from near pristine lenses with very few cleaning marks and as good as any Bak-4 loaded bino in the Collection. Seriously, they are fantastic! And at just 35 ounces this set is a true lightweight being nearly a full pound lighter than a B&L Mk-28 7x,50 Navy bino.

We added an additional set of screw off black plastic eye cups for those who will use this set bare eyes, as we usually do with such old optics, and wish for the widest possible field of view (FoV). Note the photo showing how the finger grooved EP (eye piece) caps are attached. They used the older, military style with inner teeth engaging two metal round posts to lock the two caps to the inner lens cells where the right one spins and acts as the adjustable diopter. Thereby compensating for differing eye strength.

Said shallower eye cups fit snugly over the included O-rings that go on first and help to hold down the finger grooved eye piece caps. Though just a few millimeters lower than the deeper original cups, the difference in views is immediately noticeable!

Both of the original leather carry straps are included. The one for the case is broken, showing it is not suitable for actual use. We've included the buckle should you wish to copy and recreate one out of new leather. Too, the original leather carry strap is included for display purposes, only. We'd never use it on such a valuable bino. Hence, the strong black vinyl strap now mounted with the original strong, brite metal barbell keepers.

The original case came with the lid missing. So we cobbled together a replacement and painted it red using an oil based enamel. You'd have to search far and wide to find a Seller who does as much for so little. We love these atavistic optical objects and our goal is to save as many before ending our own collecting days. Each of us only "borrows" such binos and should endeavor to leave them in as good a shape as possible for future generations.

Speaking of our progeny: could there be any worse national administration as the one now in power? They obviously stole the last election and are determined to ruin the country so that China will overtake U.S. Trillions of $$ are invested in that awful communist country, and They could care less about the average American. Hence such onslaughts such as drag queen shows for children in schools and libraries! Not to mention the truly dangerous transgender agenda. Ergo, watch Tucker Carlson on Twitter and Matt Walsh's podcast for the TRUTH!
