There's something about Nikon equipment, you pick it up and you're instantly aware of the seminal images of our lifetime,captured by this wonderful, cherished equipment. Never is this more apparent than when looking at a Pro level period piece of kit such as this.
A stunning 24mm F2.8 Nikkor, offered in stunning condition. The serial number dates it to around 1975. Contemporary to the seminal Nikon F and F2 SLR bodies, this incredible lens is F Mount, so is compatible with all Nikon SLR Bodies made up to about 1980, plus the later FA/F3/4/5/6. As well as the recently released DF! It is also a fantastic performer on mirrorless digitals, I have used identical Nikkors mounted on my Canon DSLR's, Panasonic Gs, GFs and My current Olympus PEN F, but it will also happily mount to the full frame Sony A7 and A9, any Fuji X, Sony NEX or even a Leica M with the appropriate adapter, as well as the new full frame mirrorless bodies from Nikon, Canon and Panasonic. Ironically, compatibility with Nikon DSLRs is mixed, it will mount in manual mode on some of the cheaper bodies, while it will require an AI conversion to work with a D200 or higher. This particular lens is in excellent condition and has obviously been obsessively cared for. The vast, wide open glass is perfectly clear, as you can hopefully see in the pictures, while the focus and aperture rings move every bit as smoothly as you would hope. That massive optic has a gorgeous multicoating which shimmers in the light like a jewel. Despite the best efforts of the last 46 years, there is not a single mote of dust internally and best of all, only the tiniest bit of finger wear to the edges of the ever prone scalloped focus ring. There is absolutely no sign of oil or fungus at all.
