ABOUT :
Truly a magnificent giant of the pacific northwest, it is believed that Douglas Fir trees, also known as the Oregon Pine and Columbian Pine, reached heights of over 400 feet tall before they were logged by settlers, making them even taller than the coastal redwoods of California.

PLANTING INFORMATION :
- Prefers acidic or neutral soils (soils with medium to high component of organic material) but is adaptable to other soil types.
- Hardy to USDA zone 4 and up.
- Sunlight: shade tolerant when young, requires more sunlight when older.

IMPORTANT :
Douglas fir seeds require a cold (stratification) period prior to planting. Soak in water for 24 hours then store them in the crisper drawer of your refrigerator for 4 weeks. Then, plant the seeds underneath 2 inches of soil.

*** These Douglas Fir cones have been sustainably sourced from a private woodland in Sequim, Washington.
