INTERNATIONAL BUYERS:
? The shipping rates shown are for '1st Class International Package' with tracking.
? Ebay is also promoting their EIS International Shipping program on sellers pages. I do not use this program because it is more expensive, slower, not very transparent, and frustrating to the buyer, if something goes wrong. Do not select it, if ebay does show it as an option.
Thank you.

Legend to the illustrations:
This print contains various expressions of Chinese ornamentation, which was followed more or less closely by the Japanese, according to the genre in question, namely, painting on silk or on paper, embroidery, or printing on fabric. In addition to the vertical naturalistic painting, there is here a larger scene depicting the branch of a tree in blossom on which a bird is perched. This example is typical of the bright, airy, even poetical style at which the Chinese and Japanese have proven to be so inventive. The two panels with a black ground are embroideries which form a completely different kind of natural ornament. The plants, flowers, birds and insects are all set off against this black ground by colours of varying degrees of brightness, to which the lustre of the silk conveys the greatest brilliancy. The panel with a brownish crimson ground belongs to a loftier order. The design, which is compartmentalized, is printed with the ground itself, and the decoration is given variety and life by the addition of several flat tints. In this style, the particular harmony of the decoration is subordinated to the ground, following the rules of good chromatics. One may recognize here the experienced eye of those who produced the most beautiful enamels in the world. The legendary bird in the centre of the motif is thefu-huang, which belongs to classical ornamentation.
