DESCRIPTION

A very scarce volume containing the epistolary exchanges between Paul Gaugin and George-Daniel de Monfreid. With eight plates, collated and complete.

Comprised of the letters exchanged between Paul Gaugin and his friend and George-Daniel de Monfreid between 1891 and 1903, this interesting volume brings the relationship between the artist and his collector to light. Both artists are associated with Les Nabis group, a collection of Paris-based artists that helped the transition from impressionism to abstract art and symbolism at the turn of the twentieth century.

CONDITION

In the publisher's original blue cloth binding. Externally, smart. With just some light rubbing to the boards. The spine is a little discoloured, and is very lightly bumped to the head and the tail. The front hinge is starting, but firm. Internally, firmly bound, with bright and clean pages throughout.

Overall Condition: Very Good
