Dolly Shopper is out of the pages of yesteryear, dressed as you would have been in 1914. This adorable fashion doll's costume is designed by Anne Cottrell, Meyer's resident doll artist at the time. Dolly Shopper even has her own little basket she can carry with her tiny dolly and tiny teddy bear in the basket with the Meyer's name on the front of the basket. She also has her own doll stand. She was made exclusively for Meyer's Department Store by Effanbee Doll Company and was limited to 1,200 worldwide!

History Of The Effanbee Doll Company. It was in 1914, Adolph Meyer opened his store in New Brunswick, New Jersey, as an Octagon Soap premium redemption center, specializing in dolls and toys. Later, his sons Joseph and Leon joined the family business. The store prospered, and over the years, many new departments were added. After Joseph Meyer became sole owner, he subsequently moved to an East Brunswick location in 1971, employing over thirty five people. Referring to themselves as the "Meyer's Family", some of the employees had been working at the store for forty years. When Joseph Meyer died in 1981, Harold Shapiro, a good friend and long time General Manager of Meyer's, became president. Mr. Shapiro continued to follow the Meyer's family tradition of catering to four generations of satisfied customers in one of the finest, award winning doll departments in the country.
