This is a beautiful 19th century pressed birch (or burr) tobacco or snuff box, likely made in continental Europe in the early to mid 1800's. The cover of the box depicts a stag leaping over a hunter, probably based on a an old tale that I'm not aware of. Metal hinges that appear to be brass. Great condition. Lid opens and closes with ease. This is one of two (the other depicts a spaniel) I have available.

Dimensions are 3.5" x 2" x 1".
