This Trunk Belonged to the Great Great Grandmother of the Estate Where we Acquired it Brass Initials PH Stand for Pierrette Hainault She Came from France in The Early 1800s and Lived in The New York Area Until 1870 Then Went to Live With Family in Canada. She Died in Quebec in 1882. She Kept Memorabilia in the Trunk. Iron Lock Hasp is Missing, Has the Iron Lock and Handles. Has Original Leather Hinges with The Addition of Iron Hinges At Some Point In Its Life. There are a Few Brass Tacks Missing Not Really Noticed A Few Replacements Through the Years. It Wasn't Until We Were Listing this That we Found Writing on the Bottom Saying This Trunk was Originally Lined with NY Newspaper from 1834 At Some Point in Time It Was Relined With Wallpaper Incredible Treasure. The Wood Has Mellowed to a Soft Patina and Great Condition For Age. Nothing to Call Damage Signs of Age and use as Expected. Estate Find.
