Royal Children Waste Bowl ‘WINDSOR’, c 1850 F & R Pratt, Staffordshire England Miniature

Reference: Lorraine Punchard, “Playtime Pottery & Porcelain From the United Kingdom & the United States,” bottom of page 75, where the maker of this shape/mold is identified as F & R Pratt & Co., High St., Fenton, England.  The name of this pattern by F & R Pratt is ‘WINDSOR’ and it depicts two of Queen Victoria’s children riding through the park with Windsor Castle in the background with the flag waving signifying that the Queen was in residence.  The two children, Victoria Princess Royal born in 1840, and Prince Albert Edward born in 1841, both became significant figures in history, and are the children depicted in the carriage.  

This Waste Bowl is transfer printed and then hand painted in blue, green, red, and brown, which appears as tan in some areas; and has a flow mulberry border detail.  This is a stunning pattern that was special when it was produced and now rare.  

Dimensions:   

(1)   Waste Bowl:  4” W x 2.5” H  

       There are a couple of fleabites to the bottom inside edge of the foot – 

       basically unseen.

There are no marks.  This Waste/Slop Bowl is in excellent condition with the exceptions as noted above.  There may be minor wear consistent with prior use, and stilt and firing marks typical of manufacturing in this period.  I have described this to the best of my ability.  If you are a collector of children’s china and wares, I would ask you to remember that these sets were made for and played with by children, and therefore, rarely in mint condition.
