Superb, rare, Modernist ceiling pendant lamp by the French designer Henri Petitot produced by the Petitot establishment during the 1930s. It is an elegant and stylish lighting piece from the Art Deco period.

It is composed of a copper coloured geometric and symmetrical structure with straight lines and sharp edges, typical of the Art Deco style. The rectangular base is fitted with a frosted glass plate.

It has wonderful decorative glass ‘icicles’ on the upper and lower edges on both sides. This was a particular feature of the Petitot designs. They appear in good condition.

Your eye is also drawn to the central glass panel decorated with a scrolled motif. The copper coloured metal has nice aged patina.

The ceiling light emits a warm and pleasant light giving the room a softly illuminating atmosphere. If you are looking for a period and stylish lighting solution that will enhance your interior, the Ezan Art Deco pendant light is a great choice.

Henri Petitot, Operating in Paris 1918-1939

The famous Paris based company of Henri Petitot was based at 10 rue du Vert-Bois. His father Antonin Petitot founded the company in 1878. Henri took over after the first worldwar.

Petitot was a leader of the modernist movement in the 1930’s and collaborated with Etablissement Jean Gauthier (E.J.G) at Ezanville (EZAN) to produce the glass for many of their lights.

Jean Gauthier focused on the production of moulded pressed art deco glassware.

This piece is attributed to Petitot. It has no attribution mark that I can find.

There are two bayonet bulb fittings at the rectangular base. It can be ceiling-mounted or can hang with an additional chain for a longer drop. It has been professionally re-wired and PAT tested. It has a new copper colour flex with a new plug in order to illustrate that it is in good working order. The flex clips off and is not required to suspend from the ceiling. It is ready to hang by a professional.

Some minor scratches and marks commensurate with age.

Overall a very rare original from the 1930s and in wonderful condition for its age.

It will be carefully packaged. If you are not in mainland U.K., please contact me for postage costs. It will be sent via a courier.
