Vintage 1930’s Tex O’rourke Stunningly Dramatic Pen & Ink - “The Posse” This smaller of two O’Rourke works bring offered.



Believed to be a pen and ink, possibly an etching or wood block. No edition or run number.



Tex O'Rourke (B. 1886) born n Texas eventually moving to New York where he became a professional boxer, promoter, and circus barker!


Tex was a skilled artist in various art mediums - oil , watercolor, Pen and Ink

In lower right. Artistically lettered “The Posse” on lower right referring to the several men on horseback riding hell bent…three riders shown.


Added details of Winchesters, holstered six gun, lariats, and western hats with various brim styles complement the interesting work.



Tex evidenced fine artistic ability to draw horses from all angles.



The viewer can almost hear the sound sound of hooves hitting the earth, horses heavy breathing, men shouting out punctuated by mouth clicks and quick high pitched whistles of communication. The smell of saddle and bridle leather, tobacco, animal musk and end of a long day sweat!
