This is a nice example of an Antique Hollow Seated Wood 19th Century Buddha Figure from Burma.  The piece is a typical of the Mandalay style prevalent during the late 1800’s. This piece was purchased at Anna's Antiques in Bangkok in the early 1970's by my father who was an antique dealer in Malaysia at the time.  He was was an avid collector of Wood Buddhas and actively pursued the best examples he could find from reputable dealers in Bangkok.  He also purchased pieces from Peng Seng in the Bang Rak area of Bangkok as well.  This figure has a particularly pleasant smile and his right hand is in the earth witness Mudra position.

Please review the pictures closely in regards to the overall condition of this Buddha figure.  Please review detailed Condition Description above.  Please note the Head originally broke off from the torso and has been re-attached with wood glue. Please refer to pictures illustrating the visible crack around the circumference of the neck.
