Michael Alfred Malone (1942-2007), known widely in the uniquely creative and artistic tattoo world as Rollo Banks, is one of the true giants of American tattooing.

With an early flair and background for artistic expression, Rollo melded classic Americana and Asian styles (Like his good friend Ed Hardy) and with his own humorous and creative flair, gave it his own style, which was (and still is) hugely popular.

Rollo's association with the biggest names in tattooing: Rogers, Devita, Zeke, Huck, Hardy (and many others) is legendary. But it was his association with Norm Keith "Sailor Jerry" Collins that was a twist of fate that solidified firmly his place in tattooing history. After interning with SJ, and with SJ's 1973 passing and blessing, Rollo purchased SJ's famous Honolulu shop, which he renamed and successfully operated as China Sea Tattoo, into the late 1990s.

During the early 1980's, at China Sea, he began a successful flash (and t-shirt) business, selling production flash sheets that changed the artistic game of tattoo flash. The pictured flash sheet was one of those sheets created and sold by Rollo during that era in 1980.
