If you are in the market for a really nice 20x,60, then here is one to seriously consider as it is a rare and so well made optic. Produced in Japan for the iconic outfitter of yore, Early Winters, it is a single coated classic made when Japanese optics ruled the roost. And for good reasons. Nothing like them made today where plastic and glue are the norm. As well as small set screws in the chassis that impinge on ersatz Chinese Bak-4 prisms. Said to actually be Bak-6 glass that yields the same round Exit Pupils as real Bak-4.

This large beauty uses the far better, and more traditional, eccentric rings on objective lenses to achieve - and hold under the most extreme conditions - collimation! As well, it looks to our eyes that they used genuine Japanese Bak-4 prism glass as the Exit Pupils are round and the usual diamond shaped grey chordal cuts of BK-7 glass are absent. Not every manufacturer boasted in writing on prism covers that they used Bak-4s. That came later on as a sales gimmick of sorts and is now ubiquitous in advertising. Meanwhile, millions of binos from decades ago used BK-7 glass and no one seemed to notice or even care. If you think 4s are always preferable to 7s you are sadly mistaken. There are so many variables to optics that the type of glass used is one minor part of a complicated whole. We have a BK-7 loaded KOWA 9x,35 that is brighter than a B&L Zephyr, and the latter uses higher index Bak-4s!

The objective beauty rings are heavy duty, not the usual flimsy stamped aluminum kind. And the objective lens cells are removable for wiping down the inner surfaces should they acquire water vapor beading stains and such. You will need a strap wrench, or equivalent, and we heartily recommend investing in a BOA 400mm one. Probably available here on eBay. We own two and they are superb!

Comes with its original case missing the closure hasp, but still is useful and keeps the optic safe during transport. We added two sets of up-cycled lens caps as shown. They fit snug and work great.

Of course prisms were cleaned of any and all haze producing film and their sides blackened. Such should improve brightness and contrast. Views are crisp and clear!

Focus controls lubed using NYE synthetic damping grease for a lifetime of easy use.

And with the anniversary of the Crime of the Century fast approaching, November 22nd, the day they shot JFK in Dallas, we heartily recommend the Best Book on the still trenchant topic - second only to who really did 9/11 - FINAL JUDGEMENT, by Michael Collins Piper. No doubt copies of which are available here on eBay! Get it and I promise it'll rock your world!!! Then read, SOLVING 9/11, by Christopher Bollyn for yet more mind blowing TRUTH. The two crimes are actually linked by one common denominator. Read and find out for yourself. You'll thank me.
