Text description beneath the picture (subject to any spelling errors due to the OCR program used)

THE HARBOUR, BRIDLINGTON QUAY.
This, the port of Bridlington, has for some years been increasing in importance as a watering-place. The harbour possesses two stone piers, from which a good view can be obtained of Flamborough Head, and will hold about two hundred vessels. It is the only one between Leith and Harwich which can be entered during northerly gales, the Bay sheltering them until the tide allows entrance. The beach is clean hard sand, and the place possesses a rather noted chalybeate spring, whose tonic effects in many cases assist those of the splendidly bracing atmosphere. The watering-place has been protected by two sea-walls, has a good parade, and is continually adding the usual attractions of such resorts.
