Want a really nice ten degree wide 7x,35?!? Then consider this old beauty made the way binos were produced in the 1950s but definitely made on or just after 1960 when the JB/JE Codes were adopted.

This one was made by JB-146. Along with JB-160, JB-56 and a few others, it is one of the better regarded manufacturers of yore out of some three hundred firms in business back then, and seems to have specialized in wide angle binos. This model is labeled Wide Field but is today considered an Extra Wide and later on such models would've been so marketed.

We cleaned the BK-7 prisms, probably hand finished, and blackened their frosted sides so as to slightly increase brightness and contrast. Focus controls lubed using NYE synthetic damping grease for a lifetime of use.

The really nice one piece chassis has been conditioned using an automotive grade product meant for rubber and vinyl. It feels great in the hand! And uses objective beauty rings similar to those found on the iconic Tasco 110 12.5* 7x,35. The overall look and feel harkens back to the best days of the Golden Age of Japanese Binos Production.

We added a slightly wider than typical, strong black vinyl carry strap shortened so that the optic hangs high on the chest. Thereby avoiding bin bashing swings when bending over. Makes wearing them while seated in a car much easier, too. It's held on with a pair of brite solid metal barbell keepers for the ultimate in security against separating and truly awful falls.

The original black plastic screw off eye cups are missing and were most likely removed for the widest possible views. Then lost. Such large ocular lenses, that are in pristine condition, usually came with pretty shallow cups meant more as a cosmetic touch than a useful attachment meant to block side light. So we also added a set of suitably sized rubber O-rings to cover the threaded portions where the cups would screw onto. Gives it a more finished look.

To help keep those eye lenses scratch free we added an up-cycled set of ocular lens caps that fit well.

Views are superb! Clear, crisp and nicely wide.

The original case is in good shape missing its closure hasp. We repaired the rear hinge flap using Gorilla black vinyl tape. Still good for transport and storage.
